Treadlite was formed when Cambridge man Paul Collins started to enquire about where the end-of-life tyres from his trucking company Collins and Sons were going. The answers he got were shocking – stockpiled in a field, sent to landfill or sent overseas to be burnt.
Now our Paul knows a thing or two about manufacturing, so he and his wife Jo scoured the world to find a solution. After a number of trips overseas, they hit pay dirt – a manufacturer with the beginnings of a system which would perform well on a local scale in NZ.
After getting Brad and Blake onboard, the team began their collaborative journey to engineer a purpose-built manufacturing facility in Cambridge, tailored for the New Zealand environment.
Working with passionate equestrian professionals, Treadlite have developed their first high-value product – a rubber mix which is an ideal addition to horse arenas. This mix has been in hot demand across the country, including being used on the top competition equestrian arenas.
