Good for your horses
Great for the planet

Treadlite™ offers a premium equestrian arena mix, proudly made right here in New Zealand from recycled rubber.

The recycling process at Treadlite’s Cambridge purpose-built facility takes end-of-life tyres through a triple-treated refinery process with a series of shredders and magnets to produce a consistent material specifically designed for horse arenas.

Treadlite has worked alongside professional equestrian riders to develop and test this premium mix, and are proud to see competition equestrian centres and private horse arenas across New Zealand now choosing Treadlite.

Testimonials

“I have always had sand arenas in NZ and this is by far the best product that I have added and have felt the difference. I love not ‘hearing’ the horse’s foot fall as we do our training. The product has mixed well with the sand – hasn’t floated away in big rains and adds a little bounce to the ‘hardness’ of sand. We have had it on our arena for 8 months and the horses are feeling and going really well with no leg issues. It is affordable and would recommend to mix with sand and lime – you won’t be disappointed.”

Penny Castle, ESNZ Performance Manager

“I recently added Treadlite to my existing surface at home and couldn’t be more impressed with the results. It’s halved the dust, added some much-added spring to the surface and the horses love it!”

Jess Land, Jess Land Equestrian

Every year, we resurface with sand and get the proper machines in to try bring the arena back to life – we had even thought about fully redoing it as it was so dead. But with the rubber we have found a huge difference. Even the vet whilst trotting a horse up commented how good the surface was.

Also the dust – crazy difference. With no watering system it was becoming a problem, but I don’t even notice the dust anymore. And that also goes with the wet in the winter – way less puddles and better to ride on wet.

It’s a phenomenal difference – should have done it years ago!”

Our Collective Environmental
Impact and Mission

Every year in New Zealand, more than 7.75 million tyres reach their end of life, and most end up in landfill or being burnt overseas – that’s approximately 73,700 tonnes too many.

At Treadlite, our vision is simple – ‘Our Place, Our Problem’. We’re on a mission to convert this waste stream from landfill to useful, by repurposing used tyres and manufacturing high-value new products.

We’ve scoured the world to find recycling and manufacturing solutions to this problem, and are proud to deliver Treadlite Premium Horse Arena Mix as our first product – but this is just the beginning of our journey.
